The regular meetings of the Militia are held on the third Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at the Fairhaven Academy Building, 141 Main Street.
Foxwoods Fund-Raising Trip

Bus leaves east side former Kmart parking lot at 9:00 p.m.

Fairhaven Village Militia to hold its annual bus trip to Foxwoods Resort Casino as a fundraiser. The bus will leave the Fairhaven Kmart parking lot promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will travel straight through to the casino. The return trip will leave Foxwoods at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and include the bus ride, a voucher for a free meal or buffet, and $20 for slots play. (Only adults are eligible for the vouchers.) The militia will hold some raffles on the bus during the trip. Tickets can be purchased by calling Ellie Sylvaria at 508-441-7566 or by visiting Mike and Wayne’s, 163 Huttleston Ave.
Spring Revolutionary War Encampment

Fort Phoenix, Fort Street, Fairhaven, MA
The Fairhaven Village Militia, the Fairhaven Office of Tourism and guests present a two-day historical encampment at Fort Phoenix. Talk to period costumed men and women about the fort’s history and life in the 1770s. See military drilling, flintlock musket and cannon firing demonstrations and camp cooking demonstrations. Try tomahawk throwing or children’s games. Also watch activities such as spinning, fire starting, tin smithing, leather working, the firing of a privateer swivel cannon and more.
Saturday evening at sundown (approx. 7:45 p.m.) see a demonstration “night firing” of the fort’s five large cannons. Free. Handicap accessible.
